A little romance to end the day

For those of you who have been living in the Jacksonville area may remember a fish camp and restaurant called Oscars. It was a great place to have lunch and watch the boats on the intracoastal and the airplanes at St. Augustine. It burned down many years ago and only the fish camp remained.

The cat was the boss at the fish camp and it still is.

The Restaurant has been completely rebuilt and is now called Aunt Kates.  They kept some of the good features of Oscars such as great food at inexpensive prices and fantastic views and wrapped all of that in a very friendly building and deck.

Entering the restaurant, you will see the bar area to the right.

You can sit inside or outside on the deck. On the weekends, they have entertainment and he was so good, I actually gave him a tip.

The back Deck is the place to be.

By leaving the trees, they kept a nice feature that was also part of Oscars.

With the fish camp right there, you can get to Aunt Kates by either boat or car.

The best part of Aunt Kates is having dinner, a drink and a great sunset. Kind of a triple threat.

End the day with a little romance and you can’t ask for a better place to enjoy the Florida Lifestyle.

My Kind of Yacht

by on Nov.08, 2011, under Boats

In all my 40 years of boating, This is probably the neatest boat I have ever seen. We received this from Sorry Dog which scares me just a little. I think we may be looking at his next project.

This yacht was designed by UK based Yacht Island Design. Instead of bringing a boat to an island, they brought the island to the boat.

The design is inspired by tropical islands, with huts, a pool and to top of that, a whole volcano. Since this is a yacht, it comes packed with special VIP rooms, arcades, gym, lounges, spas and even a helipad.

The volcano adds a lot of beauty to the whole look of the yacht, it also happens to have water flowing out of it onto the pool creating this amazing river complementing the whole tropical look.

The back of the yacht has a retractable beach deck where structures float on the sea making the sea accessible to swim in and of course grant access to various water activities such as wake boarding and jet-skis. The whole concept is pure genius and the result looks even better.

Weird Signs

by on Oct.31, 2011, under Signs, Site News

While traveling, we run across some strange signs now and then. If you run across a weird, interesting or strange sign, send it in and we will publish it.

If you need to be told not to go straight, you shouldn't be running a boat. :)

This guy did not want you to trespass.

I would have taken a better picture, but I didn't want to stay around to long.

I guess we shouldn’t park there.

I decided not to park there.

I guess you could call this ‘lunch on the road’

Welcome to Florida

The SorryDog CarBoat

by on May.30, 2011, under Boats, Cars, Mermaids

One day, Sorrydog was sitting around at the point just looking over the property and some of the items that were laying about.

Before the 2 became 1

He spotted and old jet boat and an old beach buggy. Now most of us, to save space, would just take the items to the junk yard but not Sorrydog. His thought was ‘lets combine them and I’ll save space and have something to ride around in’. Once the thought entered the Sorrydogs’ mind, there was no stopping him. What following is the beginning of a special project that ended with an un-believable vehicle. We showed you the making of the Sorrydog Boat, now follow along with the making of the sorrydog CarBoat.

The first step is to prepare the 2 items to be mated

The buggy is being prepared

The jet boat is ready for the mating

The big moment, is it going to work?

You be the judge, did it work? ( lizzy is an extra cost optional accessory)
